What Makes Granite
the Right Choice?
Granite is an igneous rock formed under extreme heat and pressure deep within the earth. That origin story is exactly what makes it so well-suited to a kitchen — it shrugs off hot pans, resists scratching from knives, and holds up to decades of daily use without losing its finish.
No two granite slabs are identical. The color variations, veining, and crystal patterns you see in the stone are the result of the specific minerals present when the rock cooled — quartz, feldspar, mica, and others in proportions that never repeat. When you choose a granite slab from our showroom, you’re choosing a surface that exists nowhere else.
We carry natural granite ranging from classic neutrals — black, white, and beige — to exotic selections with dramatic movement. Our showroom staff will help you match color, pattern, and finish to your cabinetry and space.
Built for the Way
You Actually Live
Scratch Resistant
At 6–7 on the Mohs scale, granite is harder than most metals. Everyday kitchen tasks won’t leave a mark — you can prep directly on the surface without worry.
Heat Tolerant
Granite can handle direct heat from pots and pans without scorching or cracking. It’s one of the few natural materials that won’t be damaged by a hot skillet placed directly on the surface.
Long Lasting
Granite countertops installed properly will outlast the kitchen around them. With periodic sealing and basic care, a granite surface can look the same in 30 years as it does on installation day.
Genuinely Unique
No two granite slabs are the same. The color, crystal structure, and veining in your countertop formed over millions of years and will never be replicated — natural variation that engineered stone can only imitate.
Adds Home Value
Natural stone countertops consistently rank among the features buyers look for. Granite in particular signals quality in a way that engineered alternatives don’t — it’s a renovation that pays back.
Works Outdoors Too
Unlike marble or quartz, granite performs in exterior applications. It’s a natural fit for outdoor kitchens in Western North Carolina’s climate — UV stable, frost resistant, and built to handle the elements.

Granite Countertop Questions
We Hear Every Day
How much do granite countertops cost in Asheville, NC?
Granite countertops in the Asheville area typically range from $50 to $120 per square foot installed, depending on the stone grade, edge profile, and project complexity. We carry options at every price point in our Fletcher showroom — call us or stop in and we’ll give you a straight answer based on your actual project.
Is granite a good choice for kitchen countertops?
Yes — granite is one of the most practical natural stone choices for kitchens. It handles heat directly from pots and pans, resists scratches from daily prep work, and holds up to spills and moisture when properly sealed. The surface won’t chip or delaminate the way some engineered products do over time.
How long does granite countertop installation take?
Most residential granite projects move from template measurement to installation in 1–2 weeks. Our team handles every step — templating, fabrication in our Fletcher shop, and installation — without subcontractors. The installation itself typically takes one day.
Does granite need to be sealed?
Granite is a porous natural stone and benefits from sealing. We seal every countertop we install. Most kitchen granite should be re-sealed every 1–3 years depending on use — it’s a simple process you can do yourself with a product from any home improvement store. We’ll walk you through it at installation.
What edge profiles are available for granite countertops?
We offer a full range of edge profiles — eased, beveled, bullnose, half-bullnose, ogee, and others. Our showroom staff will help you choose an edge that complements your cabinetry style. We can show you physical samples before you decide.
