What Makes Quartzite
So Remarkable?
Quartzite is a natural metamorphic stone formed when sandstone is transformed by intense heat and pressure. The process bonds its quartz grains into an exceptionally dense surface with flowing mineral patterns that can resemble marble.
True quartzite is highly scratch resistant and handles heat well, making it an excellent choice for hardworking kitchens. Unlike engineered quartz, every slab is quarried from the earth and carries unique color, veining and crystalline detail.
Stone names can sometimes be used loosely in the marketplace. We evaluate the actual slab, discuss sealing and care, and help you choose a material whose performance fits your project—not simply the name printed on a sample.
Natural Drama Built
for Everyday Use
Naturally One of a Kind
Each slab has its own mineral movement, crystalline texture and color shifts, giving the finished installation genuine individuality.
Excellent Heat Resistance
Quartzite tolerates kitchen heat far better than resin-bound surfaces, though trivets remain a smart everyday habit.
Highly Scratch Resistant
Its quartz-rich structure creates a hard work surface suited to active kitchens and other frequently used rooms.
Marble-Like Movement
Many quartzites offer sweeping veins and luminous pale colors with greater hardness than calcite-rich marble.
Indoor & Outdoor Potential
Many true quartzites perform well in both interior and properly planned exterior applications without resin discoloration.
Expertly Fabricated
We plan seams, movement and edge details around the actual slab, then fabricate it in Fletcher and install it with our own crew.

Quartzite Countertop Questions
We Hear Every Day
Is quartzite the same as quartz?
No. Quartzite is a natural stone quarried in slabs. Quartz is an engineered product made from mineral quartz, resin and pigments. Quartzite generally offers more natural variation and greater heat resistance, while engineered quartz offers more consistent color and does not require sealing.
Does quartzite need to be sealed?
Many quartzite slabs benefit from a penetrating sealer because absorption varies by stone and finish. We will make a care recommendation for the actual slab rather than relying only on its trade name.
Can quartzite etch like marble?
True quartzite is quartz-rich and generally resists acid etching better than marble. However, some stones sold under quartzite names contain calcite or dolomite. When performance is a concern, the actual slab should be evaluated.
Can hot pans go on quartzite?
Quartzite is highly heat resistant, but trivets are still recommended to protect the finish, seams and surrounding materials from extreme or sudden temperature changes.
How much do quartzite countertops cost near Asheville?
Quartzite is usually a premium natural-stone selection. Installed cost depends on the slab, project size, layout, edge details and sink work. Bring your plans or measurements to our Fletcher showroom for a project-specific estimate.
